Leah Fairchild

Leah Fairchild is interested in writing books that evoke the necessary realities that children find themselves in
in through a thoughtful and playful tone.
Leah is currently writing a middle-grade novel grounded in magical realism with an overarching theme of social justice.
In addition to a completed picture book, she is writing several books that have wriggled their way to her while
teaching children and running a library.
She is constantly lassoing stories she wishes existed to
ultimately become her own.

Leah was born in a log cabin, grew up in a magical forest, and was raised by a teacher who became a writer. Stories constantly pull Leah's attention, and she eventually gives in. As an elementary school librarian, she wrestles books back onto the shelves, teaches library, literary, and technology studies, and, best of all, plays matchmaker with books and readers alike. Leah lives in a Florida cottage with a clowder of cats and a misplaced New Englander.
